A self-confessed drug pusher who earlier surrendered to authorities under Oplan Tokhang was killed by two unidentified armed men while sleeping underneath an LRT station in Pasay City Wednesday night.
Police identified the victim as Kimaloding Hadji-Azis, 32, vendor, of Molave Street, Sto. Niño, Barangay 145.
A police report disclosed that around 9:40 p.m., Hadji-Azis was sleeping on a wooden folding chair under LRT 1-EDSA Station when the suspects arrived.
“Without any apparent reason, one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the head,” the police report said.
Hadji-Azis died on the spot.
Witnesses said the gunman and his company fled on foot towards Mahogany Street after the shooting incident. They claimed they “couldn’t describe” any identifying features of the suspects as the incident happened at night.
Upon verification, it was learned that Hadji-Azis had surrendered to authorities under Oplan Tokhang on November 25, 2016.
Asked if he was rehabilitated after submitting himself, an insider at Pasay Station Drugs Enforcement Unit (SDEU) said most of surrenderees returned to the illegal drug trade.
“Karamihan sa kanila bumabalik din sa pagiging pusher o tulak. Pero isa ‘yan si (Hadji-Azis) sa pinakaunang batch na sumuko rito,” the insider said. (MARTIN A. SADONGDONG)
