Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confiscated more than 200 pieces of illegal commemorative plates following an entrapment operation in Caloocan City.
Director Roel Obusan, CIDG chief, said the illegal commemorative plates bear the seal of the Office of the President and have also the pictures of president Duterte and national police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.
“This operation was based on the complaint of a person who was supposed to order it but informed us about it when the complainant was told that those items are illegal,” said Obusan.
Obusan identified the arrested suspect as 59-year-old Salvador Macabalitao who as collared during the entrapment wherein he was supposed to deliver 100 pieces of the commemorative plates.
The official said a total of 203 commemorative plates were seized form Macabalitao and a fake badge of dela Rosa.
Also seized were a tollway police badge, another police badge, a pressing machine, a mug pressing machine, the envelope containing the boodle money and a van which the suspect has been using in the delivery of the commemorative plates.
Obusan said a string of criminal charges will be slapped against Macabalitao who is currently detained at the CIDG office at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
