Sixteen-year old Luis Angelo Tabasa of Tondo, Manila ruled the first Metropolitan Chess Club (MCC) Young Knights Training Games held over the weekend at Kostka School in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.
Ranked No. 4, Tabasa won all his seven matches in the one-day event held exclusively for the first batch of the Milo Checkmate Summer Program being held in various parts of NCR and in the provinces.
Tabasa pocketed the top prize of P1,500 and took the first slot on the way to Quest for Excellence set to be held on May 13.
In second place was 10 year old Allan Gabriel Hilario of Bulacan with 6.0 points while Matthew Ian Wang of Pasig City placed third with 5.5 points.
Hilario, who also won the 12-under plum, earned R1,500 and the first of the three slots for Malolos, Bulacan.
