The Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents arrested an American pedophile wanted by authorities in Texas for allegedly engaging in child pornography.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said 60-year-old Christopher Wayne Walker was nabbed last Monday at his home in Darasa, Tanauan City, Batangas by operatives from the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).
Morente disclosed that the US embassy in Manila sought the arrest of Walker.
Walker is said to be the subject of outstanding arrest warrants issued by courts in Burnet County and Bend County in Texas where he was charged with jumping bail and promoting child pornography, respectively.
Morente added that the BI board of commissioners already issued a summary deportation order against Walker last April 23 for posing a risk to public safety.
The deportation order, he said, was also issued on account of Walker’s status as an undocumented alien which stemmed from the cancellation of his passport by the US government.
The American is now detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
He has been placed in the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines. (Jun Ramirez)
