Operatives of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) discovered around one kilo of shabu stuffed inside four young coconuts during a recent raid in Dumaguete City.
Dumaguete Jail warden Chief Inspector Prizel Arevalo said a man together with a minor delivered the coconuts with fruit cocktails and milk and made it appear as an ingredient in making halo-halo.
The two suspects were able to leave the jail facilities after authorities decided to wait for the ongoing mass to end before making a thorough check on the coconuts.
When duty officers noticed that six of the 30 coconuts were already drained off their water, an immediate inspection was done which resulted in the discovery of the shabu.
BJMP Chief Serafin P Baretto Jr. assures a stringent inspection on drugs and other contrabands will be done under his watch.
