Singer-actress Karla Estrada took to social media to take a swipe at the critics of her son actor Daniel Padilla.
“When someone judges you, it isn’t actually about you. It’s about them and their own insecurities, limitations and needs,” said Estrada on Instagram.
Estrada did not name any person she was alluding to but observers believed that she was sneering at the critics of Padilla who was criticized for his performance at the Bb. Pilipinas grand coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City last April 30.
One of Padilla’s critics was OPM balladeer Richard Reynoso who frowned at the production number of the young actor.
Reynoso crticized the way Padilla serenaded the candidates at the pageant.
“Halehalehoys!!! Iba na talaga ang panahon ngayon. Dati, pag kumakanta ka sa ‘beauty pageant’, hinaharana mo yung mga kandidata and make them feel na sila ang pinakamagandang babae at that very moment. Ngayon, mukhang backdrop na lang ang mga kandidata at di na din yata required na nasa tono ka sa pagkanta. Nuba?!” said Reynoso in a comment posted on Facebook.
But Padilla appeared to be not affected by the negative comments regarding his performance.
“Ewan ko. Pasensya na siguro. Mali siguro ako,” said Padilla during an interview on ABS CBN Teleradyo.
“Hayaan nyo na may opinyon naman ang lahat ng tao. Kung ‘yun ang opinion niya wala naman tayong magagawa,” Padilla added.
Reynoso, known for hit songs “Hindi Ko Kaya” and “Maaalala Mo Pa Rin,” also said that gone are the days when singers would really prepare for their production numbers.
He also called on television shows to feature better talents in their programs, saying that there are many talented singers in the country these days.
