HONG KONG – Fresh from a successful trip to Cambodia where he unmasked his “economic persona,” President Duterte arrived here yesterday in high spirits as he prepared to meet the Filipino community, particularly representatives of the 210,000 Overseas Filipino Workers, based here.
As Duterte was welcomed at the Hong Kong International Airport, key members of his Cabinet met the media to announce the initial successes made by the Chief Executive in his determined push for the success of improving the country’s economy through the so-called “Dutertenomics” that will be carried out through the “Build, Build, Build” strategy.
“In our (foreign) visit, we are trying to show the economic persona of the President that he will also handle not only peace and safety but more importantly the economic development of country in relation to the development from within, as we consider the relationship from without,” stressed Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.
The official presidential delegation completed the successful trip to Cambodia where Duterte participated at the World Economic Forum on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations 2017.
He will meet the huge Filipino community here which has continued to support his administration since he was given an overwhelming election victory in May last year.
Cabinet officials said a strong push for Duterte’s economic program is being launched internationally after the Chief Executive gained huge successes in the peace and order program, a vital requirement before the country could realize true economic progress.
“Actually, it’s not a 10-point agenda. So remember this, it’s a zero to 10-point agenda, socio-economic agenda. And the zero is precisely peace and order,” stated National Economic and Development Authority Director General Ernesto Pernia. (Ben R. Rosario)
