NOTED CLANS – The late Romeo Vasquez came from a noted clan in Tayabas and nearby Quezon towns: Alandy and Sumilang. He was once urged to run for mayor but he declined. Politics was not for him.
Highspeed earlier wrote that Bobby was Asia’s best actor for “Ako ang Maysala” in 1958, just like Rogelio de la Rosa for “Higit sa Lahat” and Efren Reyes for “Ifugao.” Ric Rodrigo was also Asia’s best actor for “Igorota.”
And while at it, might as well say that Charito Solis and Charo Santos were Asia’s best actresses, for “Dahil sa Isang Bulaklak” and “Itim,” respectively. Rebecca del Rio and Rosanna Ortiz were Asia’s best supporting actresses for “Malvarosa” and “Patayin Mo sa Sindak si Barbara,” respectively.
Leroy Salvador was Asia’s best supporting actor for “Biyaya ng Lupa.” Bobby was 78 when he passed recently.
