The military said that 11 suspected members of the Maute Group were arrested in Marogong, Lanao del Sur yesterday.
Major Gen. Arnel dela Vega, commander of the Philippine Army 6th Infantry Division, said they were arrested in a simultaneous raid of three houses at around 5:20 a.m.
Dela Vega said the raids were conducted after surveillance operations confirmed their presence in the town.
Seized from them were eight high-powered firearms, including a 60-mm mortar grenade launcher, an M60 machine gun, an M14 rifle, an M16 rifle, an M1 Garand, a carbine, and ammunition.
They were taken to the unit’s headquarters in Malabang, Lanao del Sur town for interrogation. (Francis T. Wakefield)
