Police forces in Laguna and Quezon provinces have been alerted to hunt down a small group of communist rebels that attacked a construction firm on Sunday.
Chief Supt. Mao Aplasca, director of the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), said they are on the lookout for the communist rebels that were last monitored to be heading to Lucban town in Quezon from Majayjay town of Laguna where the attack was carried out.
“We have already alerted all chiefs of police in Laguna and Quezon to conduct mobile checkpoint in support of the ongoing pursuit operations,” said Aplasca.
The rebels were first reported to have burned a heavy equipment in Barangay Piit in Majayjay town after the owner of a construction firm reportedly did not pay the revolutionary tax.
National police spokesman Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said the Majayjay-Lucban road, according to Carlos, has been cleared and reopened to vehicular traffic as of late Sunday with police and military troops providing area and route security. (Aaron Recuenco)
