About 30 participants are undergoing a 10-day freshwater aquaculture training for free at the Villar SIPAG Farm School in Bacoor City, Cavite that started on May 16.
Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, director of Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), said the training course provides an opportunity for participants to not only learn from the experts on aquaculture but also from businessmen who have ventured into commercial fish farming.
“We should take advantage of the uptrend in aquaculture globally, which at present is fulfilling nearly half the world’s demand for fish,” Villar said.
Villar SIPAG partnered with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to hold the training for free. The topics include Freshwater Aquaculture (three days), Ornamental Fish Production (three days), Aquaponics (two days), and Aquascaping (two days).
The participants stay in the dormitories inside the farm until the end of the training.
