CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – an 85-year-old man who is said to be bedridden was mauled and killed by his own son Friday in Barangay Purag, Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
Chief Inspector Honesto Lazo, the spokesperson of Ilocos Sur police provincial office identified the victim as Elpidio Yadao, a widower who was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
The suspect, who was arrested by police immediately after the crime was the victim’s own son identified as Nestor Yadao, 50 years old and works as a security guard in Manila.
Police gathered from witnesses that the younger Yadao arrived at his father residence drunk after a visit at a wake nearby.
Residents claim they heard the hapless Yadao screaming for help after being mauled by the suspect.
Moments later, the elder Yadao was discovered bloodied and lying face down on his bed.
Police surmise that Yadao was hit several times in the head after a bloodied rock was found inside the victim’s room.
As police are trying to determine the motive behind the gruesome crime, charges of parricide are now being readied against the suspect. (FREDDIE G. LAZARO)
