The Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Taguig City police yesterday seized around 3.5 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P18 million in an abandoned car in the parking lot of a mall in Taguig.
Southern Police District director Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr. said the PNP-DEU, PDEA, and Taguig police were dispatched after they received a report from an informant that a gray Mitsubishi Lancer with license plates UAP-625 was abandoned in the area.
Lawmen put the car under surveillance for about 12 hours before they decided to open the car and discovered shabu in four plastic packs and sealed in a white carton box.
Apolinario noted the possibility that an illegal transaction was about to happen at the parking lot of the mall before the car was abandoned.
Apolinario said the shabu was taken to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame, Quezon City for testing.
Authorities have coordinated with the Land Transportation Office to identify the owner of the vehicle.
