The seven-day 2017 World Slasher Cup 2 will be held starting May 25 at the 17,000-seat Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The new and challenging format of the 9-Cock Invitational Derby will have a 2-cock elims on May 25-26, 3-cock semis (May 27-28), 4-cock finals for those with 2 to 3.5 points (May 29-30), and another 4-cock finals for those with 4 to 5 points (May 31.
The event has the backing of Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists, Pitgames Media, Petron and Thunderbird.
Doc Ayong Lorenzo of Excellence said: “The World Slasher is the biggest and most prestigious cockfest in the world and practically all sabungeros are hooked to it twice a year. We’re proud to be a part of it,’’
The new format gives all participants a fighting chance to win the event, according to WSC media partner Manny Berbano of Pitgames.
As seen in WSC’s January edition ( over 300 entries ), eight pointers Paolo Malvar and James Uy lost the title by half a point after Frank Berin (8.5 points) won the derby’s last fight.
Meanwhile, afficionados may get the “2017 World Slasher Cup: 9-Cock Invitational Derby” DVD box seat starting May 25 at the Snaxx counters of Smart Araneta Coliseum or at online atwww.worldslashercup.ph.
