The story of a Makati City mall security guard has gone viral online after refused to accept cash reward for returning to its owner a lost bag containing P410,000 in cash and valuables recently.
Ronald Llaneta, a security guard at Jazz Mall located at Nicanor corner Metropolitan Ave., Barangay Bel-Air, found a bag inside a pushcart at the supermarket section of the mall while conducting roving inspection around 7 p.m. last Thursday, May 18, according to a post by GMA News.
Llaneta immediately brought the bag to his supervisor and when they opened it, they saw four bunches of P1,000 bills and a bunch of P500 bills inside the bag, aside from an eyeglass.
The owner of the bag, who was not identified, was elated after getting back his bag and offered some of the money as reward to Llaneta, to which the mall guard politely refused.
Llaneta’s good deed did not go unnoticed as supervisors and top officials of the mall where he is working recognized and congratulated him for his honesty.
“Our roving guard Mr. Ronald Llaneta of M&S Security Agency returned P410,000 in cash and other valuables. He also refused a thousand bills as reward and said he was just doing his job. Let’s make his wife, two-year-old son, mom and five older siblings and other relatives from Atimonan, Quezon proud and make him a Pinoy hero even for just a day,” said in a Facebook post by a certain Royce Cabunag.
The post has since garnered around 6,000 likes and more than 2,500 shares on Facebook after being posted last Friday.
As a simple token for his honesty, Llaneta and his family were treated by the mall executives to a luxury buffet. He was also awarded with a certificate of commendation and various gifts from his supervisors. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
