Philippine National Police (PNP) hardly missed the absence of its “Chief” as the Responders clobbered the Bureau of Customs (BoC) Transformers, 83-37, to jumpstart its title bid in the 1st UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off held over the weekend at the Pasig City Sports Center.
Even without PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, the Responders practically settled the outcome of the game with still one quarter left after racing to a commanding 64-26 lead – thanks to their rock-solid defense.
Israel Dickson led the Responders with 17 points while Dexter Vitug, Peter Limbauan and Alex Sintin also dished out significant numbers for PNP which isn going for a double after winning the regular UNTV Cup last March.
Also getting off to good start were Armed Forces of the Philippines and Department of Justice posted contrasting wins in the event organized by UNTV CEO and chairman Daniel Razon for the country’s public servants.
Getting 20 points from Gen. Gener del Rosario and 18 points from Col. Kiram Grajo, the AFP Cavaliers trounced the Senate Sentinels, 88-69.
AFP’s win negated the 28-point performance of Senator Joel Villanueva.
Lipa City Prosecutor Nonilo Tagalicud led a well-balanced attack by the DoJ Boosters to beat the Ombudsman Magis, 56-50.
