An anti-drug policeman was gunned down Tuesday night by four unidentified armed men while he was talking to a female informant in Valenzuela City.
The victim, Police Officer 3 Noel Cabanglan, 36, a member of Valenzuela Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), died on the spot.
Investigation showed that Cabanglan was talking to his female informant on Que Grande St. in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela, at about 6 p.m. when one of the armed men shot him in the head from behind.
When Cabanglan fell to the ground, the other gunmen shot him several times.
The suspects quickly left the scene after the shooting.
Police retrieved from the crime scene spent shells of .9mm pistol.
Zyan Caiña, Valenzuela Public Information Office head, said the city government will shoulder the funeral expenses of Cabanglan.
“The LGU will pay for the funeral service of the slain cop. The local government will also give Cabanglan’s wife a job. His children will also receive scholarship,” Caiña said.
Cabanglan left two daughters.
Police are hunting down the gunmen. (JEL SANTOS)
