Hindi na padadalhan ng notice of violation ang mahigit sa 200 motorista na nahuling gumagamit ng mobile phones at ibang gadgets habang nagmamaneho kasunod ng suspension ng pagpapatupad ng Anti-Distracted Driving Act (ADDA), ayon sa Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Sinabi ni Celine Pialago, MMDA spokesperson, na may kabuuang 246 violators ang nakunan ng closed circuit television cameras na namonitor naman ng Metrobase Command Center mula May 18 hanggang May 23.
“We will no longer send notice of violation to motorists brought by the suspension of the implementation of ADDA,” sabi ni Pialago.
Ayon sa kaniya, inatasan ng Department of Transportation ang MMDA na tumulong sa information dissemination para maintindihan ng publiko ang batas. “There was an agreement to conduct an information drive first so that public would be fully aware of the law,” dagdag ni Pialago.
