SEASON OF – The season in reference isn’t summer, winter, spring or fall (autumn), but one season on television.
Which lasts for 13 weeks.
Well, some romances in showbiz are good for only 13 weeks… no more, no less. This is especially true where TV newcomers are concerned, usually winners or runner up of reality shows.
Consider a recent example of this “one season of love.” Plain Jane and Mr. Dreamboat caught the attention of the public during a long-running TV show. A large number of fans urged that they be cast in a TV show – and eventually perhaps even in a movie.
And so they were cast in a teledrama. But even from the start, colleagues doubted the sincerity of Mr. Dreamboat, who announced to one and all he was truly in love with Plain Jane, accepting her for what she is. Of course she was flattered no end. What a nice pair they made.
•
THE END OF – Now, the teledrama flopped, hardly lasting for 13 weeks or one season.
As expected that was the end of the romance… make believe really. Mr. Dreamboat dumped Plain Jane without even a proper goodbye. She was, of course, broken-hearted.
Now had the teledrama been successful, the romance would have continued. Well, it was fun while it lasted….lucrative, profitable.
This sad example is by no means unusual. It happened – and still happening – all the time.
