Jewel Angelo Albo of Team ABR edged Kervin Llanes of Whackers Badminton Academy, 19-21, 22-20, 23-21, yesterday in the boys’ singles Under-15 division to highlight his two-title romp in the MVP National Badminton Juniors Championships presented by Smart at the Powersmash in Makati City.
Albo then teamed up with Anthea Marie Gonzales in besting Metro Kidapawan’s Gem Daryll Bangcaya and Justine Jica Barasona, 21-16, 21-12, in the U-15 mixed doubles event.
Mikaela Joy de Guzman of Golden Shuttle Foundation dumped Catherine Joyce Barriento of Space Shuttle Kidapawan /JLTC, 21-13, 21-16, to reign supreme in the girls singles U-17 in the event backed by Smart Communications, MVP Sports Foundation, Balipure, Victor exclusively distributed by Pcome Industrial Sales, Prima Pasta, Sosro Fruit Tea and sanctioned by Phl Badminton Association and powered by Forthright Events.
Anielka Maeve Paz of JLTC and Mark Anthony Bernal of MSI Jrs. outlasted Andrea Princess Hernandez of Whackers, 21-16, 21-10, and Dashiel Indelible of CBDD Smashers Mati, 21-11, 21-8, respectively, to top the singles U-13.
Other winners were Ryan Almario Bernal (boys U-9) of MSI Jrs., Frances Gabrielle Ramirez (girls U-9) of MSI Jrs., Wijel Angelo Albo (boys U-11) of ABR and Andrea Princess Hernandez (girls U-11) of Whackers.
Bernal turned back Roaquine Mari Ramos of MSI Jrs, 21-18, 21-16; Ramirez survived Roshan Louise Lejana of M3A Training Camp Lucena City, 21-13, 25-23; Albo outlasted Chris Lorfenze Manuel of JLTC, 21-19, 21-13; and Hernandez waylaid Irish Maxene Arellano of USC Badminton, 21-5, 21-11.
