Sometime ago, we featured on Matanglawin TV show the Book Museum cum Ethnology Center in Marikina City.
Lawyer Dominador “Jimmy” Buhain, named as the most traveled person in Asia by the Travel Century Club in 2012, owns the Book Museum.
He has a vast book collection of all the books he acquired from his travels around the world. He makes sure he buys books whenever he travels to remind himself he has been to that place.
The Book Museum, which opened in 2013 and is 300sq meters wide, currently houses more than 6,000 books. Mr. Buhain says it is only ¼ of his collection. He opened the Museum to share to the world the wonder found in books. People can go there and read.
One of the books found in the Book Museum was the limited edition copy of J.K. Rowling’s Goblet of Fire, the fourth installment of the famous Harry Potter series. The most complete collection of the writings of National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal can also be viewed there. Other astonishing finds are the 40 miniature book collection by William Shakespeare, the smallest tablet engraved with a Chinese poem from China and the smallest detailed crucifix made in Frankfurt, Germany.
The 2012 Guinness World Record’s smallest book in the world can also be found there. The 3.3 by 3.3 millimeters small book is from the Gutenberg Museum and comprises the Lord’s Prayer written in seven different languages.
