Residents of the eastern part of Metro Manila and Rizal will soon enjoy fast and convenient travel to the capital following the recent groundbreaking of the LRT Line 2 East extension project.
Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said the two new stations will be built to extend the current LRT 2 railway line from Santolan, Pasig City to Masinag in Antipolo City. The railway project is expected to be completed in August 2018.
“While the government has launched a series of offensives to clear Marawi City of Maute rebels, the rest of the Duterte administration remains focused in its avowed goal of bringing prosperity for all,” Abella said.
“This will make a commuter’s travel time from Recto to Masinag in less than 40 minutes compared to the usual travel of up to three hours by bus or jeep,” he said.
Abella said the railway project, which is part of the government’s Build-Build-Build Infrastructure Plan, is designed to accommodate 80,000 passengers per day. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
