Carlos Cantorna produced another double-double as Philippine Elite completed an 8-game sweep of the elims with a 91-62 win over RTMM in the 12-Under division of the 4th Headstart Development Basketball League-Freego Kids Cup held recently at the SGS gym in Quezon City.
Cantorna tallied 38 points and 21 rebounds as the team of coach Mark Herrera advanced to the next round of the annual tournament also backed by AXA Philippines and Duralite undefeated.
Wacky Espina led the Denok Miranda-mentored RTTM with 21 points while Lorenzo Agustin added 19 points.
The PH quad will face No. 4 Philippine Cultural College in the semis while RTMM takes on No. 4 Chiang Kai Shek College in the semis of the tournament organized by Freego Sports Marketing consultant Edster Sy with Willy Chan as tournament director.
Like RTMM, the Joel Yap-mentored CKSC also finished with a 5-3 card after scoring a 79-74 win over Headstart – thanks Calvin Villanueva, and Tyrone Tecson.
Meanwhile, Letran got 36 points from Christian Camay and 15 from Manuel Robles to beat PCC, 79-68, and clinch the No. 2 seed in the 15-U division.
CKSC took the top seeding after topping the double-round five-team division.
Out to retain its title for the fourth time, CKSC battles PCC in the semis while Letran collides with AMA.
