TIMELESS QUESTION – Can exes really be friends?
That’s the timeless question asked in the current Gerald Anderson-Arci Muñoz starrer, Star Cinema’s “Can We Still Be Friends?”.
Yes, it’s the question often and always asked by ex-partners, be they sweethearts or live-in lovers or husband and wives.
Gerald and Arci play friends who turn lovers who eventually turn exes. Their relationship lasts for almost eight years…until they decide on an amicable breakup. But under the guise of friendship, they consistently check on each other. This turns into a competition of sorts as to who will find a new lover first… only to find out one of them is still in love with the other.
Indeed, a tough and complicated situation.
“Can We Still Be friends” is directed by Prime Cruz and written by Jen Chuaunsu, incidentally partners in real life.
Supporting cast: Bryan Santos, Ria Atayde, Brian Sy, Gege Severo, Erika Padilla, Markie Stroem, and Emmanuelle Vera.

BEHIND THE CAMERA – Let’s look at the love affairs of Gerald and Arci behind the camera.
It took a long, long time before Gerald and ex-GF Kim Chiu became friends. It was a bitter parting which reduced them to tears on national television. But now they’ve moved on. Gerald is dating Bea Alonzo and Kim is said to be seeing Xian Lim.
Gerald says time and again that he wants to befriend all his exes, including Maja Salvador.
Arci broke up with BF (son of Prince Jeffrey of Brunei by his Filipina wife) not too long ago. Arci claims she and BF are okay, but friends think otherwise. “Di pa siya talagang okey na.”
Gerald and Arci co-starred last year in “Always Be My Maybe.”

OTHER COUPLES – How about other couples who are in splitsville – both happy and still bitter.
It took a while, but exes Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez, Gina Alajar and Michael de Mesa, Aga Muhlach and Janice de Belen, Dina Bonnevie and Vic Sotto are, more or less, okay on friendly terms. That they have children is a big factor.
The best of friends are Ogie Alcasid and Michelle Van Eimeren.
Still not okay are John Estrada and Janice de Belen, Aiko Melendez and Jomari Yllana, Lotlot de Leon and Monching Gutierrez, Edu Manzano and Maricel Soriano, Kris Aquino and James Yap, Jennylyn Mercado and Patrick Garcia.
Hopefully, in time, they can still be friends.
