An anti-narcotics cop of the Northern Police District (NPD) was shot dead by alleged drug personalities in Caloocan City, Monday night.
Coloocan Police chief Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna identified the victim as Police Officer 2 Froilan Deocares, assigned to the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of NPD.
The suspects were only identified as certain “Ngongo Pinka” and “Tisoy.”
Investigation showed that at about 7:30 p.m., Deocares and PO2 Rolando Tagay were conducting surveillance aboard a motorcycle when they were attacked by the drug suspects along C3 Road in Barangay 28, Caloocan.
Reports said the two cops tried to flag down Ngongo Pinka and Tisoy who were on board a motorcycle without a plate number.
But instead of stopping, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired shots at the policemen.
The drug suspects sped off after hitting one of the cops.
Tagay said he called for a backup after Deocares was shot in the face. He then brought Deocares to Tondo General Hospital in Manila but was declared dead on arrival.
Police retrieved the suspects’ black Suzuki Skydrive motorcycle just a few meters away where Deocares was shot.
Recovered from the motorcycle were a black bag, six sachets of shabu, .9 caliber pistol, ammunitions, and a digital weighing scale.
According to Bersaluna, the suspects were notorious drug peddlers in Pamasawata, Caloocan.
Police are now hunting down Ngongo Pinka and Tisoy.
