Games Today
(Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig City)
10 a.m. – Zark’s vs Racal
12 noon – Marinerong vs Cignal
The Cignal Hawkeyes look to build more momentum in their quest for a second straight crown as they battle Marinerong Pilipino today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Cignal shoots for its third straight win after losing its opening assignment to rookie team Flying V in the 12 noon showdown with the Marinerong Pilipino squad that is seeking an upset after dropping its match with Batangas last week.
But Marinerong Pilipino’s bid is easier said than done after Cignal cruised past the Zark’s Burger Jawbreakers, 107-69, last Monday at the same venue.
Former Far Eastern University standout Raymar Jose, a key offseason acquisition, anchored Cignal in that win with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Jose is expected to play another major role as Cignal enters the midway point of a rigorous seven-game schedule in 10 playdates.
Hawkeyes Coach Boyet Fernandez is hopeful that his team has already developed a championship-mentality even at this early part of the tournament.
“We just have to be ready every game. May mga ginagawa pa rin kami na di magandang behavior, kaya dapat naming matutunan na hindi gawin yung mga yun,” he said.
Racal Motors eyes its second straight victory when it plays the still-winless Zark’s squad in the 10 a.m. opener.
Racal opened its quest to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss to Cignal in the Aspirants’ Cup finals by defeating AMA Online Education, 118-100, and Jerry Codiñera will once again rely on former Southwestern University star Mac Tallo, Janus Lozada and Arellano star Kent Salado.
