The expansion of Radial Road 10 (R-10) in Navotas City has displaced more than 160 residents since the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) implemented the project two years ago.
Residents who lost their homes were members of Maryhill Northville Homeowners Associations, Inc., but the DPWH provided them financial assistance.
Illegal settler-families whose houses stand in the way of the road widening in North Bay Boulevard were demolished.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar assured relocation for those affected by the R-10 expansion.
“Rest assured that we will continue to work with our partnered agencies to guarantee that the affected families will be provided with safe, adequate and affordable housing units,” he said.
According to DPWH, there is an ongoing construction of first community-initiated relocation site for the affected families in Norzagaray, Bulacan through its partnership with other government agencies and non-government organizations. (Raymund F. Antonio)
