GlobalPort star Terrence Romeo was fined P25,000 yesterday by the PBA for hitting Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s LA Tenorio late in his team’s Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal loss held Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Romeo was slapped with the hefty fine after he was ejected with 3:28 left in the fourth quarter of the Batang Pier’s 96-85 defeat for a Flagrant Foul 2 and for his actions prior to leaving the court where he was seen shouting words a few meters away from Tenorio, who responded with a hand gesture as if he was sleeping.
Tenorio later said that he understands Romeo’s frustration but advised him to be cautious with his actions.
“He’s a great player, a very talented player. Dapat ingat din siya sa mga ganung act because a lot of kids, a lot of people are watching him,” Tenorio said.
Also fined P25,000 was Alaska’s Calvin Abueva for a stickum sign and for slamming a chair at the technical officials in the Aces’ 107-106 loss to Romeo and the Batang Pier in a playoff for the No. 8 quarterfinals berth last Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
