FILMBIOS – Today, June 12, is Independence Day and so Highspeed suggests filmbios of heroes and noted personalities, especially Philippine Presidents.
To date movies on Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Ferdinand Marcos, Emilio Aguinaldo, Antonio Luna, Hermano Puli, Tandang Sora, Diego Silang, Dagohoy, Lapu-Lapu have been made.
Not to forget Gregorio del Pilar, whose third filmbio has started shooting, with Paulo Avelino in the title role. The two previous films on the young general, the Hero of Tirad Pass, starred Jose Padilla Jr. and Romnick Sarmenta. Don Nanding Ortigas and Ed Rocha, who bankrolled the blockbuster “Heneral Luna,” are also producing the third film on Del Pilar, titled “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
Also in their pipeline is a filmbio of President Manuel Luis Quezon, whose life and times are certainly cinematic.
Highspeed suggests a mestizo for the role as Quezon looked more “Kastila” than Pinoy.

HOW ABOUT – Aside from Aguinaldo and Quezon, how about considering filmbios of past Presidents, those no longer in this world?
They are Jose Laurel Sr., Sergio Osmeña Sr., Manuel Roxas, Elpidio Quirino, Ramon Magsaysay, Carlos P. Garcia, Diosdado Macapagal, and Corazon Aquino.
Guess it’s too premature to make the filmbios of Fidel Ramos, Erap Estrada, Gloria Arroyo, Noynoy Aquino, and Digong Duterte.
In the light of many developments, perhaps one on President Marcos could be made again. Years back, there were two Marcos movies, “Iginuhit ng Tadhana” and “ Pinagbuklod ng langit,” timed when he ran and won twice for President.
