CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Justice Secretary Vitalino Aguirre II personally led a team of DoJ delegation to monitor the inquest proceedings of the recently-arrested Maute fighters.
Those undergoing inquest proceedings are tied to the violent attacks on the people of Marawi City, including Maute matriarch, Farhana, and former Marawi City Mayor Fahad Salic.
“We are here to personally verify the sufficiency of the preparations of our DoJ Teams as they go about the inquest proceedings of the detained Maute-ISIS personalities. Those responsible will be brought to justice,” said Aguirre.
With Aguirre’s delegation were Justice Undersecretaries Antonio Kho Jr., supervising undersecretary for the DoJ National Prosecution Service, and Renante Orceo, the undersecretary tasked to set up the temporary office of the City Prosecutor’s Office of Marawi City in Iligan City.
“Cagayan de Oro must be free of threat. Siempre malapit kayo, eh. One of my reasons I wanted to file a motion for considerarion to the Supreme Court resolution, assigning Cagayan de Oro as the venue for these cases, sabi ko tatatlong hakbang lang ‘yan from Iligan City,” said Aguirre.
