LAST Monday, June 12, the nation celebrated our 119th Independence Day. In a previous episode, “Matanglawin” TV show explored historic Corregidor Island.
This island is located at the entrance of Manila Bay. Its iconic areas include Battery Way, Shell Room, Cartridge Room, Battery Hearn, Mile Long Barracks, Japanese Tunnel, Old Army Post Hospital, and Malinta Cave.
Corregidor served as backdrop of the battle among Japanese, American, and Filipino forces during the Second World War.

Still in time for ID, we featured Intramuros, the Walled City.
Like Corregidor, the city was severely damaged during the Japanese-American War in the Philippines. Intramuros also houses canons used during the war.

Do you go for giant dogs? Shih Tzu?
Shih Tzu are also called “Lion Dog” because the breed was associated with Dowager Empress Tzu Hsi, who ruled the China from 1861-1908 and who considered the dogs sacred.
The dog was called Shih-tzu Kou in traditional Chinese which means “Lion Dog.” The breed’s lion-like facial features were revered in imperial courts because of Buddha who was said to have come to earth on the back of a lion.
During Ming and Manchu dynasties, the little lion dogs were bred and raised by the palace eunuchs and considered as exclusive property of the royal court.

What is the criteria for a giant dog?
Any large dogs fall into this group, although some groups describe “giant breeds” as those dogs heavier than 50 kilograms.
•
Trivia: Giant dogs bark louder because they have bigger lungs and larger vocal cords as compared to other breed of dogs.
