A House leader yesterday showed the possible detention room of Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos at the House of Representatives should she fail to attend the fourth hearing on the allegedly irregular purchase of P66.45-million worth of vehicles by the provincial government.
Surigao del Norte Rep. Johnny Pimentel, chairperson of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, said the 80-square meter detention room on the third floor of the North Wing Building at the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City, will have a WiFi connection and other basic amenities to ensure her comfort and security.
Pimentel said it is “very comfortable” and has a receiving area, private room, bathroom, and a small dining area. He said that Marcos can have access to the Internet so that she can still perform her duties as governor.
Pimentel said they believe that they can detain Marcos.
“No one is above the law, even if you’re a Marcos,” he said. “Ibig ba sabihin kung Marcos ka, exempted ka na sa batas? Hindi po pwede yun,” Pimentel said.
“Dapat pantay-pantay tayo.”
