4 p.m. – Stallion vs Kaya
(Cebu City Sports Center)
7 p.m. – Global vs Ceres
Global-Cebu and Ceres-Negros resume their fierce rivalry tonight when they face off in the first Philippines Football League match at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The two powerhouse clubs seek to secure the maximum three points in the 7 p.m. match in order to catch with first and second placers Meralco-Manila and JPV-Marikina in the league table.
Both had contrasting results over the weekend, with Global escaping with a 2-all against Kaya-Makati on a last-gasp equalizer by Sekou Sylla while Ceres won its third in a row after a 5-2 thrashing of Stallion-Laguna.
Global is in third place with 14 points while Ceres has climbed to fourth at 13 points after a slow start.
Ceres enters the contest with the psychological edge after defeating Global, 1-0, last month on a late goal by Jeff Christiaens at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Global, which will also be led by Misagh Bahadoran, Pika Minegishi and Paul Mulders, will play its first home match in the Queen City of the South after turning the Biñan Football Stadium and Rizal Memorial Stadium as temporary home venues.
Meanwhile, Kaya-Makati looks to catch up in the standings as it plays struggling Stallion-Laguna in Biñan, Laguna.
Kaya has gone winless in its last three matches, falling to fifth place with 11 points. Stallion, on the other hand, hopes to recover from losing back-to-back games to Ceres last week in Bacolod City.
