3 p.m. — Cignal HD vs. Batangas
5 p.m. — Flying V vs. Tanduay
A playoff atmosphere is expected today when streaking Flying V and three other pacesetters take center stage in what could be a pair of blockbuster matches in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup action.
Sporting a league-leading 5-0 record, the Thunder intend to sustain their dominant start in their 5 p.m. showdown with the dangerous Tanduay Rhum Masters, currently running at third spot with a 3-1 mark.
Flying V, led by former La Salle star Jeron Teng, is coming off a 94-86 victory over Racal Motors last Monday, but coach Eric Altamirano is far from pleased with his wards’ latest performance.
“We did make stops in the end but the problem is still the same. We’re still very inconsistent,” he lamented, perhaps disappointed with how the Thunder blew hot and cold all game long against the Alibaba.
Altamirano knows the Thunder cannot afford to have that such alarming form against the equally surging Rhum Masters, who are riding high on a three-game winning streak, including a 113-71 beating of Gamboa Coffee Mix.
Stopping Flying V’s winning run should be enough to satisfy Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson.
“Nothing is sweeter than dealing them their first loss,” he said.
