Games Today
(The Arena, San Juan City)
5 p.m. – F2 Logistics vs Cignal
7 p.m. – Petron vs Foton
Expect keen action today as the league’s titans clash in a pair of knockout semis matches in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Defending champion F2 Logistics tries to book another finals appearance when it battles dangerous Cignal at 5 p.m., while Petron squares off with Foton at 7 p.m. in the tournament bankrolled by Rebisco, Gold’s Gym and Belo with TV5 as official broadcast partner.
The Cargo Movers are installed slight favorites, but they can’t avoid too many mistakes against the HD Spikers who are coming off an impressive 25-17, 25-10, 25-20 victory over Cocolife in their quarterfinal duel.
The troika of Jovelyn Gonzaga, Royse Tubino and Rachel Anne Daquis is expected to fuel Cignal’s bid after combining for 31 points the last time.
But F2 Logistics is not lacking in firepower with the presence of former La Salle aces in Ara Galang, Kim Dy, and Kim Fajardo.
Galang, Dy and Fajardo were largely responsible for the team’s 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 win over Generika-Ayala in the quarters.
The Petron-Foton showdown is also a must-see.
Petron Coach Shaq Delos Santos believes his wards have what it takes to beat Foton having national team players Mika Reyes, Ces Molina, and Aiza Pontillas at his disposal.
Delos Santos can also count on veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan and collegiate stars like Sisi Rondina, and Bernadeth Pons.
Momentum is on Petron’s side having beaten Foton, 25-20, 18-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-11 the last time.
Expected to lead Foton are Jaja Santiago, EJ Laure, CJ Rosario, and Jen Reyes.
