Games Today
(The Arena, San Juan City)
10 a.m. – Cignal vs Sta. Elena
1:30 p.m. – Café Lupe vs IEM
4 p.m. – UP vs BaliPure
6:30 p.m. – Pocari Sweat vs Power Smashers
Pocari Sweat shoots for a third straight win and the solo lead when it battles the Power Smashers today in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Warriors are tied with the Creamline Cool Smashers for the lead but will secure the solo lead if they prevail in their 6:30 p.m. match with the Power Smashers.
Confidence is high for Pocari Sweat after beating BanKo-Perlas Spikers, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 28-26, three days back but newly appointed coach Rico De Guzman said they still need to polish their game if they are to make it to the finals once again.
Myla Pablo is hoping to sustain her hot form after a 23-point show in that game.
Help will also come from Kai Nepomuceno, Jeanette Panaga, and Elaine Kasilag, who combined for 38 points.
Pocari has little problem defensively as shown by its 11 block – thanks to the efforts of Panaga and Nepomuceno.
Despite losing to BaliPure, 25-15, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-6, last week, coach Nes Pamilar remains confident of their chances.
But for them to win, Regine Arocha, Dim Pacres, and Alexandra Tan should step up big time.
Meanwhile, University of the Philippines (0-1) and BaliPure (1-1) try to bounce back from their respective losses when they battle at 4 p.m.
