Led by Rhena Itesi and Jo-Anne Camelo, the Lady Bulldogs hardly encountered any problem as they dominated their rivals in almost all facets of the game that saw them take a 55-37 advantage going into the payoff period.
NU’s win over UP was a follow up to its 81-72 victory over Adamson on Saturday in the event also backed by Smart Communications, Powerhouse and CW Home Depot.
Itesi and Camelo tallied 17 points each for the Ever Bilena-backed team which is out to annex its fourth straight UAAP championship.
University of the East, fancied as the biggest threat to NU’s four-peat bid, likewise stayed unbeaten by downing Adamson, 58-50, thanks to another inspired performance of Unique Chan and Ruth Tacula.
Chan sparked UE’s early charge and finished with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting while Tacula and Bienca Ramos chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively, as the Lady Warriors notched their third win in as many outings.
Inspired by its 76-63 win over archrival Ateneo a day earlier, La Salle posted its first back-to-back wins with a 77-71 decision over Centro Escolar University.
Khate Castillo knocked down four triples on the way to posting a game-high 21 points while Camille Claro and Chuchi Paraiso combined for 29 points for the Lady Archers who improved to 2-1.
