Former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis N. Tolentino is back in government.
President Duterte has appointed Tolentino as his new political adviser, a year after the appointment ban on losing candidates expired.
The appointment paper of Tolentino was signed last June 27.
Tolentino lost his senatorial bid in the May 2016 elections, ranking 13th in the race for 12 seats. Duterte endorsed the senatorial bid of Tolentino at the time despite the MMDA chief’s connection with then President Aquino.
Tolentino’s sister Annalyn presently works as Assistant Secretary at the Social Secretary’s office in Malacañang.
Also appointed were special envoys William Lima (China), Amable Aguiluz V (Gulf Cooperation Council), and Jose Manuel Romualdez (United States).
