The Philippine Blu Girls were relegated to a quarterfinal match with host Canada after absorbing an 8-6 loss to Puerto Rico yesterday in the Canada Cup International Softball Championship in Surrey, British Columbia.
The Blu Girls squandered five runs in the last three innings, including three in the fifth to trail 8-4 before falling short on a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh to suffer another defeat in the week-long tournament.
In losing their third straight after an impressive 3-0 start, the national softbelles will face the world No. 3 Canadians.
