Tinatayang nasa P80 million ang halaga ng bagong trucks at equipment na binili ng Manila city government para lalong mapagbuti ang road clearing operations, engineering services, at pagresponde sa emergency cases.
Pinangunahan ni Manila Mayor Estrada ang blessing ng 14 na bagong kagamitan city hall grounds. Ito ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na nakatanggap ang Department of Engineering and Public Services (DEPW) ng de kalidad na bagong kagamitan sa loob ng 12 taon, ayon kay Estrada.
“To better serve the public, our city engineers should be fully equipped with new, state-of-the art equipment, not those dilapidated trucks and old tools that have been acquired a long time ago, way back in the ‘80’s,”pahayag ng mayor.
Ilan sa mga bagong kagamitan at sasakyan na binili ng city government ay steamrollers, self-loading trucks, heavy duty dump trucks, bulldozers, backhoe, boom trucks, jackhammers, and breakers, ayon kay DEPW chief Engr. Rogelio Legazpi.
Sa oras ng anumang kalamidad tulad ng earthquakes, magagamit mga bagong sasakyan at kagamitan sa rescue and retrieval operations at pagsasagawa ng relief operations.
