House Majority Leader Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas yesterday stressed that impeachment complaints against Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno will be subjected to the same rigid scrutiny that congressmen applied on a failed ouster bid against President Duterte.
This developed as lawyer Lorenzo Gadon, author of one of two Sereno impeachment complaints reported in the media, disclosed that at least a dozen congressmen have expressed willingness to endorse his complaint.
Gadon, president of the PDU30 Constitutional Reform for Federalism and a former legal adviser to ex-President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, failed to file on Monday the 54-page complaint for impeachment against Sereno after he did not get an endorsement from a House member.
The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption and the Vanguards of the Philippines Inc. filed a 12-page complaint despite lacking the required endorsement.
Heeding Farinas warning, Gadon disclosed that he decided not to file the complaint last Monday, saying that congressmen who have voiced out support have been furnished copies for them to scrutinize.
