THE Kapurpurawan Rock Formation is one of the most famous tourist spots in Ilocos Norte. Located in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, it is known for its sheer white color. We featured this unique rock formation in our “Matanglawin” TV show sometime back.
From puraw word meaning white, the white color of the rocks is due to the water from the ocean that frequently washes over the rocks.
Unfortunately, tourists cannot climb the rock formation because the rocks shrink under the ground due to erosion.
Visitors are not allowed to climb as well to protect the rocks from littering and vandalism.

According to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDP), the Philippines is the 4th country in the world that is always affected by calamities.
In line with disaster prevention, “Matanglawin” presents TACLOB or the “Galing Bag,” an emergency backpack filled with necessities such as food, first aid, and equipment.
At the same time, the bag doubles as a floating bag which can be used as personal floatation device during floods.
These bags are made in Tacloban, produced by workers who lost their jobs in the wake of typhoon Yolanda.
