President Duterte admitted that he was insulted by former President Benigno S. Aquino III’s comment that nothing really changed despite the administration’s all-out war against drugs.
Duterte earlier had a tirade against his predecessor, calling him stupid for seemingly taking the country’s illegal drug situation lightly.
The Chief Executive, during an unannounced visit to war-torn Marawi City Friday, said Aquino should realize that he has lost a number of government authorities during this drug war.
“You must remember that what precipitated, what started the fight there was an operation against a drug personality. So tapos i-belittle mo na walang nangyari? Masakit naman ‘yan,” Duterte said.
Duterte reiterated that a year into office, he has achieved more than what his predecessor accomplished in his whole six years on the campaign against illegal drugs.
“The entire six years niya they’re able to get 4.83 billion (kilos). Sa one year ko, I confiscated or seized 18.52 billion (kilos),” he said.
“Kaya naiinsulto ako. Marami akong namatay pero marami rin akong nakuha but at the cost of the lives of my soldiers and police. Kaya ang sagot ko medyo balabag,” he added. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
