Manny Pacquiao has provided Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum pertinent details about his preferred dates for his rematch with Jeff Horn late this year.
“I talked with Manny this morning and he gave me the dates,” Arum told the Bulletin yesterday.
The 85-year-old Top Rank chief added: I am finalizing the venue.
It has been mentioned that Brisbane remains the frontrunner to stage the second meeting with the 38-year-old Pacquiao and Horn, who upset the Filipino legend last July 2 before over 51,000 fans at the open-air Suncorp Stadium.
But because it will be risky to stage a rematch there since the weather is unpredictable in Brisbane in the months of November and December, there are two options: Melbourne and Sydney.
After Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane’s next best venue is the Brisbane Entertainment Centre but it can only accommodate over 13,000.
Melbourne has Etihad Stadium, which can sit 55,000 while Sydney boasts of several that can play host to a much larger audience.
Meanwhile, Horn, 29, has reported back for gym training, according to the Australian media, expecting that a deal will be put in place for the Pacquiao rematch anytime soon.
