KINUMPIRMA ng Pinay International Star na si Ms. Lea Salonga ang kanyang pagbalik sa Broadway in New York City via the musical “Once On This Island.”
Magpe-premiere ito sa Circle in the Square Theater on December 3, 2017.
Gagampanan ni Lea ang role na Erzulie sa naturang Broadway musical revival.
Heto ang pinost ni Lea sa kanyang Instagram:
“Word is out! I will be making my return to Broadway this fall in one of my favorite shows, @onceislandbway!!!”
Naglabas din ang website na Playbill tungkol sa pagkakasali ni Lea sa cast ng “Once On This Island.”
Ang iba pang makakasama ng Tony Award-winning actress sa musical ay sina Alex Newell (“Glee”), Merle Dandridge (“Greenleaf”) at Quentin Earl Darrington (“Cats”).
Other cast includes Phillip Boykin (“Sunday In The Park With George”), Alysha Deslorieux (“Hamilton”), Kenita R. Miller (“The Color Purple”) and Isaac Powell, making his Broadway debut.
Ididirek ang “Once On This Island: The Musical” ng Tony Award nominee Michael Arden.
Ayon sa Playbill: “The musical, which was first produced on Broadway in 1990, follows peasant girl Ti Moune and her star-crossed romance with a young man from the wealthy side of her island, a world ruled by four island gods.”
Last Broadway stint ni Lea ay noong gawin niya ang musical na “Allegiance” noong 2015 kunsaan nakasama niya si George Takei.
Tapos na si Lea sa kanyang mga commitments dito sa Pilipinas, kabilang na rito ang pagiging coach sa “The Voice Teens Philippines” sa ABS-CBN 2.
Noong nakaraang August 6, isa si Lea sa naging special guest sa ginanap na Lytham Festival sa Lytham Green, Lancashire in England.
Inawit ni Lea ang ilang songs sa musical na “Miss Saigon” sa “West End Proms: Take Two” at nakasama niya ang ilang kilalang theater performers ng London West End.
