PISTA ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) film festival kicked off with an unexpected turnout of P127 million running gross as of Monday, August 21.
Following its success and online clamor, Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced that three top grossers “100 Tula Para Kay Stella” by Paul Laxamana, “Patay na si Hesus” by Victor Villanueva and “Bar Boys” by Kip Oebanda will continue to be shown in select theaters.
FDCP chair Liza Diño-Seguerra said in her Facebook post yesterday that they got more than the target box office gross of P100 million. She was also hopeful that PPP can crack R200 million mark as audiences flocked the cinemas in the festival’s last day.
Later in that day, Diño went FB Live to regretfully announce that the festival has to officially close on August 22 as originally scheduled.
