Malacañang said despite threats on the life of President Duterte arising everyday, it will look into the new threats being referred to by former senatorial candidate Greco Belgica.
Belgica, from Manila claimed Monday morning that members of the Liberal Party were plotting destabilization of the government.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said his office is yet to receive such reports but said Belgica needs to have substantial evidence regarding his claims.
“As far as we know, matters like these arise everyday, almost everyday. Threats and the like. And so, I’m sure it’s going to be also looked into,” Abella said during the Mindanao Hour/Bangon Marawi press briefing Monday morning.
“Any threat is a cause of concern,” he added.
According to Belgica, the Liberal Party is involved in the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City, which started last May 23, 2017.
“Involved sila sa (They are involved in the) Marawi [siege]. They are financing the destabilization plot, assassination plot for the purpose to oust the President at ipalit si VP Leni (and put VP Leni Robredo in position),” Belgica said.
“They are doing dirty works now. They are doing relentless efforts to kill the President,” he added.
Malacañang earlier said that the opposition of the Duterte administration has no hand in the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City.
“These matters, unless really fully vetted, will remain speculation as far as we’re concerned. But we go by with what the President has said – that the troubles are directly due to the ISIS [Islamic State],” Abella had said.
