Dear Ms. Rica,
My boyfriend has been asking me to let go of using protection because it doesn’t feel good for him daw po. He also said that if I sit on top, it will lessen the chances of me getting pregnant because his fluid will come out din naman. Is that true?
Thank you,
C
Hi C,
Thank you for writing. Unfortunately, because of the desire to let go of the condom, some people find ways to feel safe and protected, even if in reality, they’re not. Isa na ito doon. No matter what position you and your boyfriend are doing it, when you’re unprotected, you still have the same amount of chance of getting pregnant. It is a common misconception that the position can prevent you from conceiving.
Ganito kasi yun, if your boyfriend finishes inside of you, there are around 300-500 million sperm released. These little swimmers can swim fast and in different directions (even upwards, given that you’re sitting on him.) If during that time, you’re ovulating, then there’s a bigger chance that conception could occur, and could lead to a full-blown pregnancy. Some of the 500 million swimmers may come out when you’re on top, pero, the point is, mayroon pa ring nakapasok sa loob. And those could definitely get you pregnant. And even if your boyfriend doesn’t finish inside, the fluid that comes out before the big O, known as pre-ejaculatory fluid, can still get you pregnant as they contain sperm too. So your boyfriend may have been misinformed.
Kung talagang gusto niyong tanggalin ang condom during your sexy time, it might be helpful if you two could talk about other forms of contraceptives. A trusted doctor may help you find the right choice of birth control that could fit your lifestyle. But before you completely go bare, I suggest that you both make sure that you are STI-free. That way, you can enjoy sexy timing without worrying about getting pregnant or any kind of sexually transmitted infection! #takeitfromthesexymind
