The police’s Internal Affairs Service (IAS) is now checking on police stations where 14-year old Reynaldo de Guzman could have been brought – if indeed he was arrested by policemen before his cadaver was found in Nueva Ecija.
But so far, IAS Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo said there is no clear proof so far that de Guzman was under police custody although his companion Carl Angelo Arnaiz was shot dead by Caloocan City policemen who were allegedly responding on a robbery case.
“We will check on the records of our policemen, especially in Caloocan not only on the Police Community Precinct but also on the Women and Children’s Desk,” said Triambulo.
He said they will also check on the barangay records.
On the part of Arnaiz case, Triambulo said they will push for the conduct of its own investigation despite President Duterte’s order to have the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) handle the case.
Triambulo said their focus is on the administrative cases involving Caloocan City policemen accused of shooting to death Arnaiz, and possible involvement of cops in the death of de Guzman.
“The NBI will be on the criminal case, we will be on the administrative side. Our mandate is to determine if there are policemen involved, and who are the policemen involved,” said Triambulo. (Aaron Recuenco)
