THE Manila Hotel, the historic landmark on One Rizal Park in Manila, will host the inaugural Miss Philippines beauty contest on September 23.
Miss Philippines Foundation, Inc. president Francisco Z. Blanco Jr. said that the national pageant aims to promote the country’s cultural heritage, Filipino values, diversity and remarkable Filipino destinations. Executive Director Hja. Hanina O. Alrefai also led the launch of the national contest.
To be held at Manila Hotel’s Tent City, the venue has been a favorite place from mammoth fashion shows to conventions and exhibits. Its spacious restrooms, good air conditioning system and high ceilings allow even the most complex of venue set-ups and design.
Forty ladies from around the country are competing for five titles in the pageant. Later, they will represent the Philippines in various beauty contests abroad.
